Celebrating Success: PGCE End-of-Course Celebration at London Metropolitan University

As the academic year drew to a close, the Education Subject Area at London Metropolitan University came together to mark a significant milestone—the end of the PGCE programmes for our Primary and Secondary trainee teachers. This final gathering was more than just a celebration; it was a heartfelt farewell, a moment of reflection, and a powerful reminder of the community that underpins our teacher education programmes.

While some students were unable to attend due to their new teaching commitments—many having already secured roles in schools across London and beyond—those who could join took the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, express gratitude, and say their goodbyes. It was a joyful and emotional occasion, filled with pride and anticipation for the journeys ahead.

A Tribute to Our Students and Staff

The event was especially meaningful for the course leaders and academic staff, who have supported, challenged, and championed these students throughout their training. Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering belief in the potential of every trainee teacher have been instrumental in shaping the next generation of educators.

Our PGCE students have shown resilience, creativity, and a deep commitment to inclusive and impactful teaching. They leave us not only as qualified professionals but as reflective practitioners ready to make a difference in the lives of their pupils.

The Power of Partnership

None of this would be possible without the invaluable support of our partner schools. These schools provide the real-world contexts in which our students learn to teach, offering mentorship, guidance, and a sense of professional belonging. The relationships we have built with our partner schools are at the heart of our programmes, and we are deeply grateful for their continued collaboration.

One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is seeing our graduates return to us—not as students, but as mentors, colleagues, and leaders in education. Many of our alumni now support new cohorts of PGCE students, helping to strengthen the very partnerships that once supported them. This cycle of growth and mentorship is a testament to the enduring impact of our community.

Looking Ahead

As our graduates step into their new roles, we look forward to seeing the incredible work they will do in classrooms and communities. We are confident that they will become the inspirational educators we so often see shaping the future of education in our schools.

To all our PGCE students—thank you for your hard work, your passion, and your trust in us. We are proud to have been part of your journey and excited to see where your careers will take you.
